Abstract

Beverage cans the rest of the material is made of aluminum and packaging as well as canned drinks becoming waste Fly ash which is remnant of coal combustion. The use of the former canned drinks and waste Fly ash plus Al2O3, SiC and melting in the using methods stir casting can produce aluminum composite. Manufacture of aluminum composite with this casting method using the parameters temperature stirring 700 ˚ C, the weight fraction of 10 wt% Al2O3, fly ash 14 wt%, SiC 10 wt%, and Mg 2 wt% and the stirring speed variation with 300, 350, and 400 rpm and the stirring time 5 minutes. The characterization of casting products include testing of the hardness, impact, chemical composition, density, and Microstructure. The experiment results obtained the highest hardness value variation at speed 350 rpm was 76.04 BHN and the lowest hardness value variation at speed 300 rpm was 65.52 BHN. The experiment results obtained the highest impact energy value variation at speed 350 rpm was 23.40 Joule and the lowest impact energy value variation at speed 300 rpm was 21.21 Joule. The results of density test tend to decrease with addition the composition percentage of speed 300 rpm. The results of chemical composition test are still a lot of impurity factor at the time of casting. In Microstructure results seen the porosity that occurs from the casting results.
