Abstract

This study aims to determine the basic sediment characteristics based on the type of sedimentary fraction. The study was conducted from October 2017 until January 2018 with sampling in 3 locations with 9 observation points, namely the location of the dam consisting of 4 points of observation, the residential area consists of 3 observation points and the forest location consists of 2 points of observation. The method used is survey method. Measurement of in situ current velocity parameters and sediment samples were analyzed using multilevel screen method at the Energy and Mineral Resources Service Laboratory of South Sumatera Province. Based on the results of the analysis, it shows that the mean size of the basic sediments at the study sites is very fine sand and moderate sand. For sediment sorting, this river has a poorly sized sediment texture. Based on the results of statistical analysis of sediment illustrated that skewness is categorized as coarse, skew very smooth and symmetrical. The results of kurtosis analysis at the study sites showed the value of leptokurtic kurtosis.
