Abstract

The X field is in Kutai Basin has been produced for 10 years that lead to decrease in the cumulative amount of production. It appears thought of strategic for developing the field to increase recovery factor. For solving this problem used reservoir simulation. The simulator used is black oil simulation. Research data using geological model come from distribution map (permeability, porosity, saturation), fluid data come from PVT data, Rock data come from SCAL data and RCAL data (sample core) and production data come from existing well. This simulation used software CMG-IMEX, Computer Modelling Group, Ltd. Reservoir production forecasting has done by using two existing wells. There are four scenarios that are basecase, the reservoir is predicted to 20 years later without any treatment will conduct cumulative production of 2,493 MMSTB with recovery factor of 28,62%. Scenario I, reservoir will be produced by opening a perforation on one of existing wells that conducting cumulative production of 2,608 MMSTB with recovery factor of 29,95%. Scenario II, reservoir will be produced by adding infill well that is close to existing wells because it has high oil saturation that conducting cumulative production of 2,977 MMSTB with recovery factor of 34,19%. Scenario III, reservoir will be produced by using Scenario II and adding more infill well that is close to existing well because it has high oil saturation that conducting cumulative production of 3,616 MMSTB with recovery factor of 41,52%. Scenario is choosen based on amount of recovery factor value that as much as depletion that can do. Therefore, Scenario III is considered as appropriate to apply.
