Abstract

The reaction of the storage and release of hydrogen for fuell cell with Natrium metaborate (NaBO2)/Natrium borohydrate (NaBH4) media at varying preasures and temperatures has been done. Hydrogen production generated from the hydrolysis of NaBH4 with water and hydrogen storage generated with NaBO2 wich is a by-product of NaBH4 hydrolysis process. Hydrogen production process with Natrium borohydrate hydrolysis take place on exoterm so that it has high speed of production at low temperature, 0oC in the amount of 0,6 ml /minute. Then NaBO2 that produced being used for hydrogen storage on varying temperatures and preasures. The highest hydrogen storage capacity at 3 bar, 40oC as much as 35.23% by w/w. The storage process with natrium metaborate can be done repeatedly with the same material. The number of repetition process are depend on the mass of natrium borohydrate that used on hydrolysis process. The storage process on this research conducted on several times and shown the increasing number of the storage capacities which are 3.08%, 5.08%, 16.94%, and 47.37%. The resulting values is increasing, it happened because on the hydrolysis process that finisheday, caught of impure natrium metaborate so that affected by water in the absorption process.
