Abstract

The purpose of this study was to compare the digestibility of guinea grass and fresh palm fronds in sacco. This research was conducted in Animal Feed and Nutrition Laboratory, Agriculture Faculty, Sriwijaya University from October to Desember 2015. Two treatment and 8 replication were applied on this research by using T-Test statistical method. Ration were composed by guinea grass and palm fronds. The parameters observed were Dry Matter Degradation (DBK), Volatile Fatty Acid (VFA) total and N-ammonia of rumen fluid (N-NH3) in sacco. The results of this study indicate that the guinea grass has the value of Dry Material Degradation (DBK), the concentration of N-NH3 and total VFA were higher than palm fronds but palm fronds have the potential to be used as ruminant feed.
