Abstract

Mangrove is a tropical plant that grow in area affected by tidal. The damage of mangrove’s ecosystem influence ecosystem of seaboard, its can be consist naturally or artificially, as example erosion or illegal deforestation, so a research about the change using remote sensing need to be done. Purpose of this research wasanalyse the change of mangrove’s area from 2001 until 2015 in Upang’s delta. This research had been done in September 2015 using landsat images. Data was obtained using transect method with an area of observation for category tree 30x30 m, seedling 5x5 m, and sapling 1x1 m. Mangrove that have medium density found in stations 1, 2, 3, 5, and 6. Station 4 have a broken density. Highest number of tree from each observation stations were 1.204 Ind/Ha in station 5, and lowest number of tree were 489 Ind/Ha in station 4. From the result of analysis landsat images from 2001 until 2015, the change area of mangrove’s ecosystem was 2.600 Hectare. The change category of mangrove’s density was analysed using NDVI method in landsat images had greatest change in category of dense mangrove and total of change was 4687,99 Hectare.
