Abstract

Background. Pediculosis capitis causes many problems for patients such as itch and social problems. The crowded environment like orphanage is a supportive place that makes Pediculus humanus var capitis grow easily. The result is expected to be an information to develop the program for prevention and treatment of pediculosis capitis Methods. This research was an observational analytic with cross sectional design. This research was conducted in October 2018. All of the subjects obtained 43 people were sampled. Data collection was from the interviews and extraction of parasite. Results. The prevalence of the patients pediculosis capitis were 69,8%. Most subject with 13-18 years old was affected pediculosis capitis (51,2%), the majority subject was found in women (58,1%), more subjects had a high level of knowledge (62,7%). The majority subject had straight (60,5%) and subject had hair length over shoulder (53,5%. Most subject washed their hair everyday (60,5%), More subjects were found using the same hair cover (39,5% and the same comb (69,8%). The majority subject sleeping together (69,8%). The problem in Orphanage X was the use of the same comb in the living room so the transmission of pediculosis capitis is still happening. Conclusion. Age, gender, the hair length, using hair cover and comb, sleeping together weres significantly associated with the prevalence of pediculosis capitis..
