Abstract

Indonesia is a country that uses fossil fuels as a primary energy source in generating electricity. This energy source has a very limited level of availability on earth and will run out. Solar power is one alternative energy source that has enormous potential to be developed in Indonesia as an energy source for electricity generation. Solar Power Plants use batteries as one of the important components used. The battery has a role as a storage medium for electric power that needs to be considered with good use because the battery is the component most vulnerable to damage and has the highest price compared to other components. The pattern of charging and emptying the battery at full charge conditions affects the number of cycles that occur on the battery which is thought to have an influence on the life of the battery. The study was conducted using a battery management system and capacity tester. The results of the research carried out produced a comparison graph of battery discharge time and a graph of the rate of decline in battery capacity to the cycle number which shows that there is an influence between the charging and emptying patterns of the battery at full charging conditions on battery life.
