Abstract

Nowdays, development of construction industry cause a rise in consumer demand for granite as extractive industries. Therefore, manufacturers of granite continuously improve it’s production in order to meet the demand. PT. Trimegah Perkasa Utama as one of the contractors that stir in mining (mine contarctor) granite, and it is the largest manufacturer of granite in the islands of Karimun is located the village of Bukit Potot in Pangke Village of West Meral in Riau Islands Province. This time the location in granite quarry Hill Potot using combination of digging-loading equipments (excavators) and conveyances equipment (the articulated dump trucks. In an effort to achieve this production target the company has two shifts, morning shift and night shift, where the total of available working time from the both everyday, to operate is 20 hours, but in the implementation of the time available is not entirely used to operate, because there are presence of obstacles during the production process, From the observation the production total of 222.897 tons/month with an effective working time of 13.96 hours/day, while the production target set by the company amounted to 300,000 tons/ month. Therefore it is necessary to evaluate the amount of mechanical equipments that are used to producing granite. After the calculation, so to achieve the production target should be an increase the total effective time for working to be 15,76 hours/day and to add 1 unit of 330 C excavator with a bucket capacity of 4 tons and 2 units of the articulated dump trucks CAT 740 for 322.294 tons/mont granite with the fuel needs of 135,988.3 liters / month.
