Abstract

The determination of texture analysis on wet lands, oil palm and rubber plantation at Faculty of Agriculture,Sriwijaya University was carried out from February to April 2015. This research used two method of soil texture analysis, those are Hydrometer and Pipette method. This research aims to determine soil texture on wet lands, oil palm and rubber plantation at Faculty of Agriculture,Sriwijaya University with texture analysis method of Hydrometer and Pipette and compared with more efficient method. Soil sample was taken in wet lands, oil palm and rubber plantation with soil layer I depth (0-30 cm) and soil layer II (30-60 cm). The aims of soil sample was taken at different depth for each land are for knowing the differences between soil texture at soil layer I and soil layer II and for knowing is there any increasing of clay at subsoil layer because the soil type in the research area is Ultisol. The determination of soil texture usually used hydrometer and pipette method. The determination of soil texture use deviation standard show that pipette method is more homogeny than hydrometer method. The advantage and disadvantage of soil texture analysis determination eith hydrometer method is more efficient than pipette method, but pipette method is more accurate than hydrometer method in the determination soil texture analysis.
