Abstract

Vibration that occurs during the machining process which causes several geometry problems. Large vibrations in the machining process produce deflection which increases the surface roughness of the workpiece. In this study, trying to analyze the number of chisels on the vibration value and surface roughness value (Ra) produced in the freis process. The study was conducted using two machining parameters namely cutting speed (Vc), and feed motion per tooth (fz) using 4 flute and 2 flute HSS chisels. The method used in this research is side milling with down milling direction and without using cutting fluid with a total of 18 tests. The sensor used is MEMS digital accelerometer ADXL-345 based on Arduino UNO in the MATLAB program for the results of vibration signal analysis in the form of time graphs and frequency domains. From the results of the analysis of vibration resolution obtained on the Y axis because it is a tangential force associated with the spindle rotation speed. The influence of cutting speed (Vc), and feed motion per tooth (fz) to the vibration increase with the ratio of the average vibration in the freis process using a 4 flute tool by 35.5% while in the 2 flute tool by 11.5% for variation cutting speed. In feed motion variations per tooth (fz) get results using 4 flute chisel at 12% while on 2 flute chisel at 7.5%. For the surface defeat value produced in the variation of speed produces using 4 flute tools get an increase in the roughness percentage of 16.25% while the 2 flute tools are 17.25%. On the feed motion variation per tooth (fz), the roughness percentage results using 4 flute chisel are 14.5% while on 2 flute chisel is 16.25%.
