Abstract

Sabah is the part of northern Borneo which is quiet save from the earthquake activity. In June 5th 2015 the earthquake was happen with 6 magnitude in coordinate 5,9785o NL – 116,5289oWL. One of the effects of the earthquake is ground acceleration. The peak ground acceleration is one of the important parameter for the effort of disaster mitigation in the future. The advantages of peak ground acceleration value that can be predict the risk of earthquakes and areas that potentially damaged by earthquake. In this final research, analyzed peak ground acceleration earthquake with 6 magnitude using empiric approach. The usage of data is come from USGS catalog and this research was taken in BMKG Padang Panjang station, West Sumatera. In this peak ground acceleration value using empiric approach is Si & Midorikawa method, and also Donovan method for comparison. The result of peak ground acceleration value will be mapping with software Arcview 3.3. From these method are resulted the biggest peak ground acceleration value in Ranau, Sabah. For Si & Midorikawa method is 769,1304 cm/s2 with intensity 8,90 MMI and Donovan method is 198,6723 gal with intensity 6,75 MMI.
