Abstract

This study aims to determine the structure of Avicennia mangrove vegetation on the Payung Island as well as determine the corelation of the density of mangrove to mangrove leaf litter production and to determine the carbon content production rate Avicennia mangrove leaf litter in Payung Island. This study was conducted on August 2, 2015 until August 27, 2015. The method used to determine the density of mangrove with line transect and to determine the content of carbon is use a formula of Intergoverenmental Panel on Climate Change (2006). The results showed a density of mangroves in Payung Island average of 1,945 individu / ha means of mangrove ecosystems on Payung Island that are in the very good category based on the decision of the environment minister of Indonesia no. 201 in 2004. The carbon content in the leaf litter of mangrove Avicennia in Payung Island average of 2.40 Gram C / m² / day.
