Abstract

This study aimed at finding out students’ metakognitif skills of movement system material that used know want learned (KWL) strategy in the context of discovery learning model. This study using Quasi Experimental method with Pretest-Posttest Control Group design at SMA Negeri 1 Palembang (South Sumatera, Indonesia) academic year 2015/2016. Data collected by the method of testing for students’ metakognitif skills, by the method of documentation for students’ KWL, and by the method of the questionnairefor students’ responses of the usedKWL strategy in the context of discovery learning model. Students’ KWL, and responses data were the supporting data in the study. The collected data was analyzed using SPSS programme with t-test, Mifflin’s rubric for students’ KWL and descriptive statistic. Results showed that there was significant difference of KWL strategy in the context of discovery learning model on gain score students’ metakognitif skills. The mean score of KWL made by students’ was 12,8, categorized into meet the standards. The mean score of the students’ response was 69%, categorized into very good and 31% categorized into good.
