Abstract

Indonesia is estimated having extensive mangrove forests around 4,25 million hectares or 3,98% of the total area of Indonesia forests, but only 2,5 million hectares in good condition (Nontji, 2005). Mangrove decliny continues to be occured as a result of the increasing desire’s level to convert and exploit mangrove forests. This study aims to mapping land cover around the side of Lumpur River Estuary in the years of 2004 and 2014, to analyse the changes that happen arround 10 years (2004-2014) and to identify mangrove conditions. It is about 8 research station field data is pleasured by purpossive sampling. The types of mangrove and by using Landsat image data ETM+ in 2004 and 8 OLI Landsat image data in 2014. The maximum likehood supervised classification and the density types used to NDVI transformation. The results explained that the types of true mangroves found in side of Lumpur River Estuary OKI South Sumatera Province are Avicennia alba, Avicennia marina, Rhizophora mucronata, Rhizophora apiculata and Sonneratia alba. The distribution and the mangrove scope is decreasing in 10 years (2004-2014) around 453,06 Ha. The decreasing mangrove scope is inversed with the pond scope which even increasing. The mangrove scope in 2004 is 1.1629,63 Ha and it is decreasing to be 1.176,57 Ha in 2014. However, generally mangrove in the side of Lumpur River Estuary OKI South Sumatera is in good conditions.
