Abstract

In this research of the effect antiobesity of ethanol extract coffea robusta leaf (Coffea canephora) on a white rat induced by high fat diet food has been done. The purpose of this research was to discover the potential of coffea robusta leaf toward reduction of cholesterol total level and lipase serum level, also the average daily intake (ADI) and average daily growth (ADI). The sample animal divided in to 5 groups consisting of negative control group. positive control group, and 3 treatment group (each ethanol extract with dosage 250 mg/kg BB, 500 mg/kg BB, and 1000 mg/kg BB. The sample of obesity animal was given with high fat diet food for 50 days. The extract was given starting from day 51 until day 60. The reduction of cholesterol and lipase serum total levels was measured at days 7, 50, 60. Average daily growth (ADG) and average daily intake (ADI) was measured during the high fat diet food and extract were giving. The result showed ethanol extract 70 % coffea robusta leaf could reduce the cholesterol level white male mice significantly (p<0,05), but was not significant for reducing the lipase level (p>0,05) between negative control with group dosage 250 mg/kg BB, 500 mg/kg BB, and 1000 mg/kg BB with each reduction was 56,01±12,36 mg/dL, 62,57±21,34 mg/dL, and 64,78±5,66 mg/dL for the cholesterol total level, and each reduction was 5,88±20,54 u/L, 9,40±5,13 u/L, and 6,22±13,21 u/L for lipase serum level. The coffea robusta leaf extract had impact to reducing weight (p<0,05) but did not have impact to the average of animal sample consumtion food (p>0,05). The effective dosage for reduction of cholesterol level was 1400 mg/kg BB, and for the reduction of lipase serum total level was 2000 mg/kg BB.
