Abstract

Dr. H. M. Rabain Regional General Hospital was one of type B general hospital that produced many types of waste. One of the hazardous wastes from this RSUD is infectious solid medical waste that can risk transmitting diseases and polluting the environment. The total waste produced is 2635 kg of infectious solid waste from January to October 2018. Based on this research, the aim is to analyze the process of managing infectious solid medical waste. The research is qualitative using in-depth interviews, observation, document and photovoice methods, to 7 informants. The results show that the largest waste comes from internal medicine rooms (10-12 kg per day) and laboratory space (5-7 kg per day), waste in the form of infusion, gauze, cotton, ampules, speed needles, body tissues, organs. Waste management processes such as minimization, storage, transportation, storage, processing and destruction tend to have proceeded well and in accordance with the SOP, but the process of waste segregation and utilization efforts have not been carried out (reuse, recycle, recovery, related to the risks experienced by officers) cleaning service, it was concluded that the process of managing infectious solid medical waste in Dr. HMRabain Muara Enim Hospital still needed a policy of compliance with SOPs and sanctions against violations.
