Abstract
The purpose of this research was to determine water quality of Musi River, especially in the 5 Ulu Village (first point with the ordinate 02o59’41.2”S and 104o45’39.3’’E) and the 7 Ulu Village (second point with the ordinate 02o59’39.3’’S and104o45’ 42.1’’E) in District Seberang Ulu I Palembang. The physical, chemical, and biological parameters of water were measured in the field and laboratorium. The results show the quality of the waters of the Musi River to the values of some chemical parameters such as ammonia, sulfide, iron, manganese, chloride higher than the standard value allowed in the waters of the river. Colifrom total of 2400 colonies/100 ml at Point 1 also exceeds the eligibility limit for total coliform in the river waters. Based on these results it can be stated quality of the waters of the Musi River, especially in the location of the sampling is not feasible to use for consumption because it has been contaminated by pollutants from industry and feces.
