Abstract

Swamp land was potential land to be developed into brown rice cultivation land. Briquettes compost as alternative fertilizer was expected to increase the growth of rice to get better and be able to increase production. The research aimsto determine the dose and number of briquettes compost given which gave the best influence on CEC, content of nitrogen on soil and plant, nitrogen uptake after been briquettes compost given and determine dose and number of briquettes compost given which gave for the highest growth of brown rice on swamp land cultivation system. The method of this research was Randomized Factorial Block Design (RFBD) which were two treatment factors. The first treatment factor was dose i.e. 0, 10, 20, and 30 tons ha-1, while the second treatment factor was number of given i.e. one briquette for one plant and one briquette for four plants. All of treatments were repeated 3 times, then number of treatments were 24 plots. The variable been observed were CEC, content of nitrogen on soil and plant, nitrogen uptake, plant height, number of tillers, number of maximum tillers, and number of productive tillers. The treatment of dose of briquette and number of given effected on nitrogen uptake, plant height, number of tillers, number of maximum tillers, and number of productive tillers. But, it wasn’t effecting on CEC and content of nitrogen in soil and plant. The treatment of dose 10 tons ha-1 gave the highest result on nitrogen uptake, plant height, number of tillers, number of maximum tillers, and number of productive tillers. The treatment of number of given one briquette for one plant gave highest result on nitrogen uptake, plant height, number of tillers, number of maximum tillers, and number of productive tillers. The combination treatments of dose 20 tons ha-1 and number of given one briquette for one plant gave highest result on growth of brown rice.
