Abstract

The success of transportation can be determined by the quality of packaging used. One determinant of quality packaging is fillers that used in the packaging. Fresh cogongrass is a filler medium which can maintain the cold and moisture very well, because it has good water absorption. This research aimed to determine the effect of fresh cogongrass as packaging filler on survival rate of crayfish fry were transported shelf dry system for 24, 48, and 72 hours. This research used a completely randomized design with three treatments and three replications. The treatments were used different duration transportation ; A (24 hours), B (48 hours) and C (72 hours). Observed of parameter were packaging temperature, recovery time, survival rate after transportation, survival rate of rearing period and water quality. Based on the research, long time to healthy lowest one was 114.17 seconds on transportation time of 24 hour and significantly different from transportation during 48 hours (147.18 second) and 72 hours (189.97 second). The highest survival rate after transportation of 93.67% was time transportation 24 hours and significantly different from transportation during 48 hours (86.33%) and 72 hours (66.33%). The rearing period 3 days after transportation during 24, 48 and 72 hours, the highest survival rate of crayfish fry was 96,44% in a length of time transportation 24 hours.
