Abstract

The purpose of this study was to obtain empirical evidence about the business diversification to financial performance. Design confirmatory research are used to examine the effect diversification to financial performance and intervening variable from leverage, size and age. Utilizing 141 firm-year observations in secondary sectors firms are listed companies in Indonesia Stock Exchange over a period an 3-years period from 2008-2010. Using Structural Equation Model (SEM) with Amos 16 to answer the hypothesis. Finding research that direct effect diversification on financial performance not significant but indirect effect variable leverage, size and age are significantly to financial performance. Diversification have not contribution with financial performance because capital market in Indonesia still emerging market and most others factor.
