Abstract

To obtain the discharge voltage characteristics of the silicone rubber (SiR) polymer isolation which gets stress of stress from the electrodes which is made in the electrode beam arrangement, the testing has been done using alternating high voltage (HVAC). It was carried out on three intervals of variation between 0.5 mm, 1 mm and 1.5 mm. The samples test were in the form of SiR sheets which a thickness of 1 mm were made in sizes 50 mm x 50 mm. Multi electrodes with variations in the number of electrodes 1 needle, 4 needles, and 6 needles to see the effect of the arrangement of shapes and the number of electrodes toward the value of discharge stress occured. The results showed that the initial discharge voltage (PDIV) and breakdown voltage (VBD) would increase as the number of electrodes increased. This phenomenon of the increase voltage was occurred due to the formation of a high electric field density around the end of the interfering electrode, the capacitance (C) between the air, and energy from the charge (Q) which triggerred heat on the surface of the insulation.
