Abstract

Has been conducted synthesis and characterization of magnetic material is barium heksaferit (BaO. 6Fe2O3) using raw materials of barium carbonate (BaCO3) and Hematite (Fe2O3) by powder metallurgy method. The composition of the stoichiometric mixture is that the mole ratio of BaO: Fe2O3 = 1: 6. Both raw materials are mixed with distilled water as mixing media by using a magnetic stirrer until a homogeneous, then dried at 100 ° C until dry. The resulting powder is then added 1% by weight binder celuna, then formed with a pressure of 2 ton / cm2 Pellets produced in the subsequent sintering with sintering temperature variations are: 1000, 1050, 1100, 1150.1200 and 1250 ° C and held for 1 hour for each of the temperature. Sintered samples were characterized by using XRD and it shows the diffraction pattern which are similar and identified two phases, namely phase BaO6Fe2O3 as dominant phase and Fe2O3 phase as minor phase. Characterization of the samples that have been sintering include: test density and porosity, XRD analysis and testing magnetic properties using Permeagraph. The characterization results showed that the highest value of the bulk density and lowest porosity achieved at sintering temperature 1200oC. Based on the hysteresis curve that the magnetic properties of samples were sintering 1200oC are: induction remanence = 2.41 kGauss, koersifitas = 3.773 kOe and Energy products BHmax = 0.93 MGOe. Magnetic properties closest commercial product China is at a temperature 1200oC.
