Abstract

spasial concentration is glaring characteristic of economic activity, unless in manufacturing sector. This research aimed not only to see the spatial concentration level of manufacturing in South Sumatera, but also to see the effect of population value, wage, accessibility, competition index and productivity to spatiial concentration of manufacturing sector in south sumatera. The object of this research is large and medium industry in South Sumatera, with the data that used in period of time 1990-2005. Ellision Glaeser Index was used to as an approach to see the spatial concentration level of maufacturing sector at south sumatera, and multiple regression analysis was used to see the effect op population value, wage, acessibility, competition index and productivity to spatial concentration of manufacturing sector in South Sumatera. According to the research result, in period df time 1990-2995 the everage of Ellision Glaeser index was 0,9185. This value indicated that agglomeration industry occured in manufacturing sector in south sumatera. Population vale variable and productivity have positive and significant effect to spatial concentration of manufacturing sector in South Sumatera. Competition index has negative ang signifificant effect; menawhile accessibility and wage variable have positive but not significant effect to spatial concentration of manufacturing sector at south sumatera
