Abstract

The quaternion is an extension of complex numbers that form a set. The set consists of four subsets which is a ring with addition and multiplication binary operations. Quaternion was firstly described by Sir William Rowan Hamilton (1805-1865) in 1843, an algebrais, astronomer, and physicist from Ireland. There are some general form of quaternions, they are the quaternion form of four dimensional set and the quaternion form of matric. At proving the algebraic structure axioms, quaternion in the form of four dimensional set and quaternion form of matric satisfy all axioms in the field except for the commutative ring against the multiplication operation. It can be concluded that quaternion has skew field algebraic structure
