Abstract

The use of synthetic dyes in the manufacture of jumputan fabric produces liquid waste that is difficult to decompose naturally in nature so that further processing is required. Biodecolorization is a biological textile waste treatment by utilizing the activity of microorganisms to reorganize dyes on textile waste. The bacteria used in this study is the thermophilic bacteria isolated from the hot springs of Tanjung Sakti at Lahat Regency which has passed the screening stage against synthetic dyes. This research has been carried out in December 2016 until March 2017, located at Genetics and Biotechnology Laboratory, Department of Biology, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, Sriwijaya University, Inderalaya. This research was conducted to find out the ability of bacteria Anoxybacillus rupiensis TS04 and Anoxybacillus flavithermus TS15 in biodecolorization of industry waste of jumputan fabric at different concentration and to know of thermophilic bacteria having the best biodecolorization ability. The stages of this study include biodecolorization power test and calculation cells total of thermophilic bacteria. The data obtained were processed using Analysis of Varian (ANOVA) at the real level (α) 5%, if the result is significant it will be tested Duncan New Multiple Range Test (DNMRT) (α) 5%. The results of this research are biodecolorization power activity and cells total of bacteria. The conclusion of this research is that Anoxybacillus rupiensis TS04 has the highest biodecolorization of 83,25% at 80% (v/v) waste concentration while Anoxybacillus flavithermus TS15 has 69% biodecolorization at 40% (v/v) waste concentration and Anoxybacillus rupiensis TS04 had the highest cells total of 1,52 x 106 cfu/mL whereas Anoxybacillus flavithermus TS15 had cells total of 3,70 x 105 cfu/mL.
