Abstract

Sorghum is a cereal plant that has the potential to be used as ruminant livestock feed because it has high coarse fiber. Sorghum straw like leaves and stems have a high content of crude fiber that will limit its utilization to livestock, leaf straw and sorghum stems can be disilase by utilizing microbes to facilitate fiber degradation process and can improve digestibility. The aim of research was to study influence the proportion of legume Indigofera sp. Against sorghum silage digestibility. This research was conducted at Field Laboratory of Animal Husbandry and Animal Feed Nutrition Laboratory of Animal Husbandry Program, Faculty of Agriculture, Sriwijaya University from February to March 2017. This study used Completely Randomized Design (RAL) with 3 treatments and 4 replications. This study used Completely Randomized Design (RAL) with 3 treatments and 4 replications. The ration treatment consisted of P0 (100% sorghum silage 100%), P1 (85% silage sorghum + Indigofera sp 15%) and P2 (75% silage sorghum and Indigofera sp. 25%). The observed variables included dry matter digestibility (KBK), N-ammonia concentration, total volatility of Fatty Acid (VFA) and pH. Data were analyzed using RAL test. The results showed that the use of different Indigofera content had no significant effect (P> 0,05) on dry matter digestibility, VFA and pH, but significantly (P <0,05) to N-Ammonia concentration. The conclusion of this research is the provision of Indigofera sp. on the different sorghum silage on the best rations found in rations with composition 85% silage sorghum + 15% Indigofera sp. with dry matter digestibility value 57,91%, N-ammonia concentration 4,07 mM, total VFA 4.5 mM and pH value
