Abstract

The research was aimed to find out the performance of three different types of blade on a portable mini cultivator machine against weeds. This research was conducted in December 2018 to May 2019 at Agriculture Technology Department’s workshop and the Land of Sriwijaya University, Indralaya, South Sumatra. The method used in this research is an experimental method by presenting descriptive data in tables and graphs. Three different types of blade used with five repetitions for each blade. The parameters of this research was theoretical capacity of the machine, effective capacity of machine, field efficiency, fuel requirements, weeding efficiency, total of bladygrass. Based on the resulted of this research when using maximum speed on three different types of blade, it showed that the theoretical capacity obtained by a type s blade was 0.0054 ha/hour, a type e blade was 0.0051 ha/hour and a type s blade was 0.0058 ha/hour which means had the highest theoretical capacity. The effective capacity could be affected that weeds wrapped around the portable mini cultivator machine. The lowest effective capacity was obtained by a type s blade which was 0.0029 ha/hour. Meanwhile the effective capacity of a type s blade was 0.0030 ha/hour and a type e blade was 0.0031 ha/hour. The lowest percentage of field efficiency was a type e blade amounted 61 % and this field efficiency could be affected number of weeds. The highest fuel requirements were obtained by a type s blade amounted 0.90 ha/hour. The biggest weeding efficiency was obtained by a type e blade amounted 99 %.
