Abstract

Silver Pompano is a marine species fish that has been cultivated. Aquaculturing should have more attention of feed factors to had a good growth and survival rate. Essential and non essential amino acids balanced can trigger growth of fish culture. Methionine is an essential amino acid that the amounts is limited in the diet. This research aims to determine suitable dosage of methionine amino acid for growth and survival of Silver pompano. This research was conducted in September-November 2018 using floating cage net at Balai Besar Perikanan Budidaya Laut (BBPBL) Lampung. This research used a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) consisting of three treatments and three replications (P0) Commercial feed with 1.62% methionine content from protein, (P1) Feed Independent with 2.58% methionine content from protein (P2) Feed Independent with 3.13% methionine content from protein. The observed parameters were absolute growth weight, absolute growth length, amount of feed consumption, FCR, protein retention, methionine retention, fat retention, survival rate and water quality. The results were showed that between treatments had a significant effect (P <0.05) on absolute growth weight, FCR, protein retention, methionine retention, fat retention and survival of silver pompano. P1 gave the best resulted absolute growth weight (199.35 grams), absolute growth length (6.73 cm), total feed consumption (444.24 g.head-1), FCR (2.01), protein retention (21.68%), methionine retention (25.58%), fat retention (114.23%) and survival rate (90.22%). Water quality obtained from this reaserch were pH 7.68-8.08, dissolved oxygen 5-5.5 mg.l-1, temperature 29.4-30.2 oC, salinity 31-33 ppt, ammonia 0.093-0.246 mg.l-1, depth 18.6-19.3 m and 5-10 m transparancy.
