Abstract

Introduction.Majority of growth faltering cases are caused by inappropiate feeding practice, so that the one way to solve this problem is by applying basic feeding rules. The study aims to analyze the relationship between application of basic feeding rules and growth faltering in children aged 6-24 months Methodology. Cross-sectional study was conducted in working area of Kalidoni health center from September until October 2019. Datas are obtained through proportionate stratified random sampling by weighting children’s body weight, filling past data of body weight by seeing KMS, and interview. Result. Of 108 childrens, the majority were male with a median age of 14 months. 21,3% are experienced growth faltering with the most ages are 6-8 months. The precentage between good and bad application of basic feeding rules are not much different (50,3% vs 49,1%). The application of basic feeding rules (P = 0,000; PR 7,125) and the level of family welfare (P = 0.022; PR 3,325) have a significant relationship with growth faltering, while the level of maternal education (P = 0.172; PR 2.334) does not have a significant relationship. The most important factor in determining growth faltering was the application of basic feeding rules (p = 0.002; PR 6.325). Conclusion. There is a significant relationship between application of basic feeding rules and growth faltering in children. Key words : Basic Feeding Rules, Growth faltering, Cross-sectional, 6-24 months ages
