Abstract

The development activity in Palembang is being more advanced and it causes more demands toward the construction, such as road and bridge, housing or building. The higher demands toward the concstruction the more we need to prepare the constructed materials such as sand, gravel, and cement. A soft aggregate or in certain term it called as sand, is a major material for building that is mostly used by the industry that is running in construction, thus the needs of the sand will be increased day by day. The issue that comes up in this sand mining in Ogan River is that the number of daily production in the mining is only about 15 m3/hour and it is unable to fulfill the production target or the demands of the market and costumers. One of the evaluation to know the causes of that issue on productivity is that by evaluating the slurp pump Jiangdong Matsuko MP4 as a type of pump that is currently using in that sand mining in Ogan River, basically this pump is able to mine and contain the sand and the other solid materials around 34 m3/hour and water around 86 m3/hour. The production of the sand that is around 15,34 m3/hour is supported by the pump’s power around 325,73 watt, 68% efficiency. To reach the target of the production, the pump needs to incrase the power thus it could work more efficient to reach the target, one of the factors to increase the power of the slurp pump is by increasing the RPM from 354 to 356 thus it could result 447,23 watt pump’s power in every hour. To make sure whether the pump’s capacity and power are still able to move or work after RPM is being added or increased, the number of the maximum power should be more than the number of previous power, and it is around 764,60 watt based on that number and data it can prove that pump is still able to hold and work with that number of capacity and burden.
