Abstract

Background: Cervical pain according to the International Association for the Study of Pain (IASP) is pain that is felt in areas bounded by the nuchal line in the superior part and the thoracic spinous process in the inferior part (Gupta et al., 2008). Strange postures that last for a long time cause discomfort felt by craftsmen. This increases the risk of developing musculoskeletal disorders, including cervical pain. One of the objective method for assessing Forward Head Posture (FHP) is through the craniovertebral angle measurement (CV) (Watson, 1994). The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between the craniovertebral angles and cervical pain in weaving craftsmen in Palembang. Method: This study was an observational analytic study with a cross-sectional design approach. Sampling was carried out using the total sampling method with a total of 34 respondents weaving workers in the Griya Kain Tuan Kentang, Tuan Kentang village, 1 Ulu, Palembang in October - November 2019. Results: The results of this study found that the characteristics of the most respondents at the age of 36-45 years were 11 people (33.3%), male sex as many as 19 people (57.6%), experienced a minimum of pain as many as 30 people (90.9%), and the period of work <20 years. From the results of statistical tests, the significance value for the relationship between the craniovertebral angle and cervical pain in weaving craftsmen in Palembang was 0.177 (p <0.05) Conclusion: There is no significant relationship between the craniovertebral angle and cervical pain in weaving workers in Palembang city. Keywords: Craniovertebral angle, cervical pain, weaving workers
