Abstract

The study aims to calculate the water needs of dry land crops as well as irrigation scheduling, in dry land city of Palembang in South Sumatra. For example crop is corn. This study is divided into two phases. Daily climate data taken from the Sultan Mahmud Badarudin station. Research using survey methods, laboratory analysts, computer simulation and design of irrigation calendar. Calculation of crop water requirement performed with an empirical approach that is by multiplying the potential value of potential evapotranspiration with crop coefficient. The ability of soil in water storage soil (soil water retention characteristics) made the basis for the calculation of the length of the water available to plants. Daily rainfall as an input field of water input from irrigation water in addition. The combination of soil data, climatic and physiological properties of plants (Agro-pedo-climatic) will produce a system of irrigation water interval in certain place. Water balance under root zone analysis using the help of computer models (BUDGET models). Soil type is ultisol with the texture sandy clay loam layer above and below the clay. Some scenarios in which to test the wet season, transition and dry. The results of computer analysis model shows that corn crops in the rainy season does not require irrigation. For the transition period (March to May) is required irrigation in flowering phase, with a total water needs of 76, 5 mm. Analysis in the dry season (May-July) is required for 198 mm of irrigation water. Irrigation scheduling applications as much as 9 times out of every 7-day intervals beginning 10 days of growth and the middle and the end.
