Abstract

Extensive or traditional aquaculture business does not require equipment that causes harm to the workers. However, due to the increase in demand, hight production is needed. To fulfill this demand, workplace accidents are vulnerable. For this reason, it is necessary to analyze the potential hazards found in work system and procedure as well as humans as the workers. This study aimed to conduct job safety analysis on wetland freshwater aquaculture farmers of Saka Tiga Village, Ogan Ilir Regency. This research was qualitative descriptive. The data were collected using Hazard Checklist and JSA Worksheet and through interview and observation. The samples were 2 key informants and 5 informants selected using random sampling. The result showed that at the stage of hatchery, nursery, and enlargement of freshwater aquaculture in Saka Tiga village had potential hazards. Hazard was identified as several hazard classifications based on the stages of work. Ergonomic hazard was originated from bending, pulling and lifting activities. Biological hazard was originated from standing and working in water. Physical hazard was originated from activities carried out in extreme temperatures and with sharp objects and electricity. Chemical hazard was derived from fish disease and parasites. It is necessary to conduct the training about the implementation of freshwater aquaculture and occupational safety and health to the fish farmers regarding the dangers found in aquaculture.
