Abstract

PT. Bukit Asam, Tbk implementing open pit mining. On the mining activity they have to face acid mine drainage produced by the contact of the rain and coal. Acid mine drainage treatment conducted in East Pit-1 West Banko raises using open channel which apllying limestone as acidity reducer. Open channel on actual sample able to reduce AMD pH number up to only 4,0 compare to the fresh limestone. The fresh limestone able to neutralize pH number up to 5,5. Limestone that had given a treatment with a flush with water to reduce the layer of metal, considered as Fe(OH)3 produced by iron ions, can neutralize pH up to 5,4. The limestones need 4.162 hours to reach saturation point. With the average number of operating pump hour up to 17 hours per day, it concluded that it needs 245 days or 8,2 months for limestone to reach saturation point.
