Abstract

ABSTRACT. The Objective of this researchwas to analyze the efficiency of input factor uses for oil palm plantation in production centers of South Sumatra. The results was expected would give more complete information on input factors efficiency in order to develop and increase oil palm productivity. The research was taken place in four districts in the province, namely Musi Banyuasin, Ogan Komering Ilir, Musi Rawas and Banyuasin. Samples of oil palm farmesrs were se;ected from two firms in the districts base on three different block ranges of age of the trees, each was grouped in 4-9, 10-20, and more than >20 years old, while for the plantations in Bnayuasin which representing wer land oil palms the samples were selected from the existing age range since thre was no population of the afe range of more than 20 years old, from each firm 15 farmers was chosen, therefore 30 samples from each district. And making toyal of 120 sample farmets of oil palm plantations in the province. The genral results showed that (1)coefficient sign of several input variables werw canform with the theoritical and logical expectations. In musi Banyuasin was revealed that Urea and SP3 fertilizers still determined roductivity of the iol palm plantations in the form of fresh fruit bunches (FFB). In the district of Musi Banyuasin, Ogan Komering Ilir, and Musi Rawas labor wage negatively affected the FFB production although only significant in Musi Banyuasin; (2) Uses of Urea, SP36, NPK fertilizers, pesticide, and labors in all districts were not efficient, showing the overuse of the inputs in the oil palm plantations in South Sumatra.
