Abstract

Obstacles in chili cultivation is anthracnose disease caused by Colletotrichum spp.which cause rooting of chilli fruit and reduce the yield. The objective of this research was to know the relationship between harvesting time and soil bed direction and the development of anthracnose disease. The research was conducted in Suboptimal land of Village Simpang Pelabuhan Dalam, Sub District Pemulutan , District Ogan Ilir and Laboratoriy of Phytopatology, Department of Plant Pest and Disease from July to September 2018.The experiment applied case study with random sampling method. The collected data was analysed using SPSS 16 Computer followed with Honest Significant (HSD) to determined the effect of harvesting tome and soil bed direction on the disease incidence and severity as well as the fruit weight of six time harvesting. The soil directions were North-South and West-East. The results showed that harvesting time and soil bed direction significantly affect the disease percentage, disease severity and fruit weight at each harvesting. The lowest disease percentage was found at sixth harvesting (8.53%), The lowest disease severity was fund at sixth harvesting 6 (4.98 %) with highest weight also found at sixth harvesting(4.50 g). Based on the research results, it can be concluded that harvesting time and soil bed direction significantly affect the decrease of anthracnose disease and the increase yield.
