Abstract

Stocking density has an important effect on the accumulation of organic waste. In aquaponics systems, nitrate in water can be used by plants as nutrients. The purpose of this research is to determine the stocking density of tilapia fish that are culture using aquaponics systems with water spinach. This research has been done at the Laboratorium Dasar Perikanan of the Aquaculture Study Program of the Faculty of Agriculture, Sriwijaya University, in April-May 2019. This study uses a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with three treatments and three replications. The treatments given are differences in tilapia stocking density P1 (100 fish/m2), P2 (150 fish/m2) and P4 (200 fish/m2). The variables measured in this study were the absolute growth of tilapia, the absolute growth of water spinach, the survival rate of tilapia and water quality (pH, DO, temperature, ammonia, nitrite and nitrate). The best treatments is P3 (200 fish/m2) that results survival rates 91.852%, absolute growth length the fish is 2.133 cm, absolute growth weight the fish is 2.225 gram, absolute growth height the water spinach is 12.198 cm and absolute growth weight the water spinach is 0.197 gram.
