Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh pelapisan khrom pada baja konstruksi plat strip dengan variasi tegangan rendah, sedang, tinggi dengan media korosif air laut dengan metode penelitian deskriptif. Teknik pengumpulan data yang dilakukan dengan mendokumentasikan benda kerja yang telah dielektroplating dan dicelupkan ke dalam media korosif air laut menggunakan miskroskop digital selama 12 hari. Hasil penelitian menunjukkaan benda kerja yang dielektroplating dengan tegangan 9 volt, 10 volt, dan 11 volt lalu direndam dengan air laut selama 12 hari dan di cek setiap 3 hari untuk melihat perkembangan laju korosi, yang mengalami laju korosi paling lambat terjadi pada tegangan 9 volt. Setiap 3 hari dicek menggunakan miskroskop ntk melihat laju korosi. Hal ini disebabkan oleh tegangan yang besar mempercepat ion-ion melekat pada katoda sehingga hasil lapisan tidak baik benda kerja akan hangus/terbakar.
