Abstract

Latar belakang: Kontrasepsi adalah suatu cara, alat atau obat-obatan yang digunakan untuk mencegah kehamilan. Kontrasepsi yang paling umum digunakan saat ini yaitu kontrasepsi oral dan suntik. Kontrasepsi oral dan suntik efektif untuk mencegah kehamilan namun memiliki efek terhadap kesehatan gingiva. Tujuan penelitian ini yaitu untuk mengetahui perbandingan pemakaian kontrasepsi oral dan suntik terhadap status gingiva pada perempuan. Metode: Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian observasional analitik dengan pendekatan cross-sectional. Penelitian ini melibatkan 30 perempuan pengguna kontrasepsi oral dan suntik berusia 18-49 tahun. Subjek penelitian terdiri atas perempuan pengguna kontasepsi oral (n=13) dan kontrasepsi suntik (n=17). Status gingiva dinilai dengan menggunakan Gingival Index (GI) dan data dianalisis menggunakan uji Chisquare. Hasil: Perempuan yang menggunakan kontrasepsi oral memiliki risiko 7 kali lebih besar untuk mengalami gingivitis sedang dan parah dibandingkan dengan perempuan yang menggunakan kontrasepsi suntik, sedangkan perempuan yang menggunakan kontrasepsi suntik memiliki risiko 5 kali lebih besar untuk mengalami gingivitis ringan dibandingkan dengan perempuan yang menggunakan kontrasepsi oral (p < 0,05). Kesimpulan: Penderita gingivitis lebih banyak pada perempuan pengguna kontrasepsi oral dibandingkan dengan perempuan pengguna kontrasepsi suntik.
