Abstract

Aphis craccivora Koch. (Hemiptera: Aphididae) is a major pest of long bean plants which can be economically harmful as well as being a viral vector in long bean plants. Long beans are vegetables that are consumed by many people in Indonesia. Almost all parts of long bean plants are very beneficial for human life. However, because of the attack of Aphis craccivora, low productivity of long beans among farmers. One of the biological controls is to control A. craccivora by using root fungus derived from exploration results in the soil from the roots of vegetable crops. The purpose of the study was to determine the response of the propagation of A. craccivora on long bean plants with root fungus treatment. The research has been carried out in the Greenhouse and in the Entomology Laboratory, Department of Plant Pests and Diseases, Faculty of Agriculture, Sriwijaya University, Indralaya. The research was conducted from August to December 2019. This experiment was carried out with two tests namely, testing through seeds and topical testing. Seed testing was carried out by inoculating the root fungus on string beans and after the plants grew, A. craccivora was inoculated whereas, in topical testing, A. craccivora test insects of 25 tails were prepared then inoculated on the leaves of long bean plants, after that let it until the test insects A. craccivora adapts to the leaves and is ready to be applied by dipping the leaves into a 1x108 conidia suspension. The study was conducted using a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with 17 treatments and was repeated 3 times using an A. craccivora with the first instar on each test. The results of the research experiments found that the ability of root fungus in suppressing populations and A. cracccivora breeding is found in the treatment of K4 isolates, ATC in seed test trials. As for the topical trial of C1b isolates, Sindur had the highest mortality rate.
