Abstract

The objective of this research is to develop simple musical instruments using natural materials for the children of group A in the Kindergarten that are valid and practical. The subject of this research are the childrens of group A Islamic Kindergarten Al Falaah North Indralaya with the object of research is the form of a simple musical instrument using natural materials. This study used the Rowntree development model and Tessmer's formative evaluation. The Rowntree development model has three stages, namely the planning stage, the development stage and the evaluation stage. The evaluation consists of the stage of self evaluation, expert review, one to one evaluation, and small group evaluation. Techniques for collecting data used checklist sheets, observation and documentation. Techniques for analysis data used percentages. The data generated from material experts obtained 67.85% and media experts obtained 96.42%, so that the average results of expert reviews obtained 82.13% with a valid category that includes aspects of content assessment, constructs, and media. The results of the one to one stage evaluation with the number of subjects of three children obtained a percentage of 79.13%. In the small group stage with the subject of six children a percentage of 81.21% was obtained, so that the average of 80.17% was obtained with the practical category. Of all the stages that have been carried out, it can be concluded that the development of a simple musical instrument using natural materials for children of group A Islamic Al Falaah Kindergarten was declared valid and practical.
