Abstract

Pest is animal which all of its activities can disturb or damage crops so that the growth and development of the crop are retarded. The disturbance made by a pest might occur on seeds, seedlings, and even in the storage which cause economic destruction to farmers. Carpophilus dimidiantus (Coleoptera: Nitidulidae), is a pest attacking various kind of fruits and grains all over the world, before and after harvesting. The objective of this research was to know the effect of soursop seed meal on storage pest of peanut, C. Dimidiatus. The research was conducted in the laboratories of Department of Plant Pests and Diseases, Faculty of Agriculture, Sriwijaya University, Indralaya, from November 2018 to February 2019. The research was arranged in a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with 6 treatments i.e. control, 0.5 gram, 1 gram, 1.5 grams, 2 grams, 2.5 grams, and was replicated 4 times. Treatment of 2.5 grams caused higher mortality of Carpophilus dimidiatus imagoes compared to other treatments, at average of 42.00%. The soursop seed meal affected the development of larvae, pupae and imagoes of Carpophilus dimidiatus. The highest percentage of the damage on peanut caused by C.dimidiatusimagoes was found in control with average percentage of 27,00%.
