Abstract

The performance test of uniterruptible electric heater for eggs hatchery aimed to make an automatic control of electric system to prevent the decrease in temperature during hatching. This research was conducted in Ferbruary until May 2019 at the Laboratory of Machinery, Workshop and Electrification of Agricultural Enggineering Study Program, Faculty of Agriculture, University of Sriwijaya. This research adopted descriptive method by turning on and off the power source periodically to test the machine. Electrical power from State Elctricity Company was turned off every one hour and was replaced by current from battery every half hour then the electricity was activated again and that process kept repeating the same way. Power needed when heater was on was 28.61 W but it was 5.81 W when heater was off. The results of this research showed that battery as energy source of this hatchery needed 34% of battery loads every 54 minutes spesified as 6Ah/12v. This system was able to control temperature of hatchery on the range of 38-40oC. Keywords: Uniterruptible electric, hatchery and temperature.
