Abstract

This paper is a research result which aims to determine the perception of youth in South Sumatra towards public diplomacy. This research use exploratory and descriptive methods. Sampling technique in this research is purposive sampling. The purpose of this research I to uncover the perception of college students toward public diplomacy in South Sumatra. More over, it describes the knowledge of college students on the definition, useful of diplomacy public. Furthermore, It examines the impact of college students perception on their interest of public diplomacy (the impact of cognitive, affective and behavioral). The results of this research showed that a few people have already known what is diplomacy, especially about public diplomacy. Furthermore, there are many youth feel not benefited from public diplomacy, but quite a few feel the benefits of diplomacy on a larger scale, such as their perception of public diplomacy for, social exchange, culture and world peace. In conclusion, South Sumatra youth have a fundamental knowledge of public diplomacy, where the knowledge is mostly obtained from social media. But many still feel not benefited from the public diplomacy.
