Abstract

The aim of this study was to improve the learning outcomes of fifth grade students of elementary school 232 Palembang by using talking chips model in theme the ecosystem. The approach of this study was classroom action research method which was carried out for 2 cycles. The cycle has 4 states which include planning, implementation, observation and reflection. In data collection techniques used 2 steps observation and tests. The result of this study was in the cycle I of the learning outcomes of students reached 76%. Then in Cycle II, the learning outcomes of students reached 92%. From the observation data during the learning process it was obtained that in the cycle I of the 1st meeting, the average value was 69,5 (quite active category) and in thecycle I of the 2nd meeting, the average value was 74,2 (active category) then in the cycle II of the 1st meeting, the average value was 80 (active category) and in the cycle II of the 2nd meeting, the average value was 90,4 (very active category).
