Abstract

The process of water distribution and treatment to the community carried out by the Regional Water Supply Company (PDAM) still has weaknesses, namely leakage of pipes in the water distribution line so that in this study a method was developed to detect pipelines leak distribution in the distribution using the fuzzy-PID controller. Fuzzy method is used to determine the value of PID parameters which include proportional gain (Kp), integral gain (Ki), and derivative gain (Kd) based on the error value obtained from sensor readings. The experimental results show that optimal values for Kp = 0.84, Ki = 0.5, Kd = 0 in this condition, and the water pump is stable. Furthermore, the pressure value is 134, which means a small leak condition, the PID parameter values are for Kp = 0.50, Ki = 0.5, Kd = 0. Under these conditions, the speed of the water pump motor is getting slower. On the other hand, when the sensor changes the value of pressure 121 or a large leak condition, the pump will stop (off) where the parameter values Kp = 0.16, Ki = 0.5, Kd = 0, respectively. These results are obtained from auto-tuning using fuzzy method which has 3 membership function for both input and output. The result indicate that, the use of fuzzy and PID can provide better results for determining PID parameters than without using fuzzy methods because the values of Kp, Ki, and Kd have been adjusted to the needs when the pressure detects a leak or there is no leak.
