Abstract

The need for continuous electrical energy is increasing as technology advances and human populations increase. But fuel generation still uses fossil energy. For that it is necessary renewable energy resources that can meet the needs of these energies but more environmentally friendly. Wind Power Plant (PLTB). This power plant converts energy from mechanical to electrical energy. Considering the condition of wind in Indonesia relatively low, vertical wind power plant claimed to be able to spin in the condition of the wind. In this research the authors designed and prototype from the vertical power plant and vary the length of the turbine's blade. Testing this prototype using wind speeds of 2 m/s – 4 m/s came from artificial sources. In testing this prototype used 6 blade with blade's length of 30 cm, 35 cm, and 40 cm. The results of the measurement output voltage and the current using multimeter based on the test results with the number of 6 blade with the length of the large blade 40 cm produces the highest power at 4 m/s speed of 0,2520 watts while testing with a blade's length of the least 30 cm at wind speed 2 m/s generating power of 0,0162 watts.
