Abstract

Optimization of biobriquette made from peat added raja banana peel and tapioca flour has been carried out. At the beginning of the study, it is conducted variations of the composition of peat and raja banana peel. In the carbonization process it is carried out variations of the time and temperature. The best results from the carbonization process are activated with H2SO4. Characterization were done include an analysis of moisture, ash, fixed carbon, volatile matter and heating value and compared with this SNI standard. The best composition of peat and raja banana peel is found in the composition of 50 g peat, 50 g raja banana peel and 30 g tapioca flour. Based on the variation of time and temperature the best conditions are peat carbonized for 20 minutes at 450oC. The results of an analysis showed the best treatment was found on peat activated with H2SO4 at a concentration of 2N with moisture of 3.31%. ash 6.05%. volatile matter 26,44%, fixed carbon 64.19% and heating value 5611 Cal/g. The data obtained shows that the peat biobriquette that has been made meets SNI standards.
