Abstract

The purposes of this study are (1) Knowing the activities of cultivating landowner farmers with sharecropper farmers. (2) Knowing the production sharing system between lendowners and sharecropper farmers. (3) Analyzing the differences in productivity and income between lendowners farmers and harecropper farmers. This research was conducted in Sungai Pinang Lagati Village Sungai Pinang District Ogan Ilir Regency. The location of this study was determined deliberately. The sampling method used are non-probability technique with the type of quota sample. The results showed that farming activities doing by lendowners farmers and harecropper farmers is slightly different. The differences is on the landpreparation, about 60 percent landowner still apply traditional way, while 43.33 percent of sharecropper also apply traditional way. In seed preparation, 100 percent of landowner farmers use local varietas from their own harverst while 26,66 percent of sharecropper farmers tend to buy certifiet seed. In fertilizing, only 23,33 percent of landowner farmers apply fertilizer and, around 36,67 percent sharecropper apply fertilizer. Forsededing, maintenance and post harvest there’s ho difference between landowner farmer and sharecropper farmer. All the sample farmers were apply “Mertelu” system, in this system 1/3 part is belong to landowner and 2/3 part is belong to sharecropper. The agreement of product sharing is done by verbal communication. The term of the agrement also not specified. There’s no significant difference betwecn landowner farmer and sharecropper farmer, the average productivity of landowner farmer is 3.201 kg/ha/year while sharecropper farmer is 3.435 kg/ha/year. There’s significant difference of average income betwen landowner farmer (IDR10.754.794 /ha/year) and sharecropper farmer (IDR5.639.802 /ha/year).
